The Roots of Our Name
The name Nuevo Malacatos is a tribute to a valley in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador where Diego discovered a profound connection to the land and the simple joys of rural living. "Malacatos" translates to "land of the young and old," and by adding "Nuevo"—meaning new—the farm envisions a "New Malacatos" right here in Brighton, Ontario.
This name bridges two worlds, bringing that same spirit of community, land renewal, and agricultural heritage to our local landscape through immersive farm stays and hands-on learning that gives back to the earth and spirit.
